Brockstein estate

Home to the most unconventional and mercyless of aurors. The house was by no means made to impress, the place being in wooden shambles. Decay was evident and the grass was unchecked.

She held Brogans hand tightly "not quite what I expected I have to admit."

"They don't have much appreciate for looks, much like me."

"well at least I know you're not after me for how I look." she was trying to make things light.. having no idea what to expect inside.

He opened the ivory decayed door, "here we go."

She couldn't help staying as close to him as possible, it wasn't like her to be shy, but meeting his adopted family was making her a little nervous.

From the stairs descended a surly, world weary man with thin white hair. He had a beard to his chin and a strong body,

"Who the hell is this, boy?"

Something in his tone seemed to snap her out of her daze as she looked the man over briefly taking no time to introduce herself "I'm Sapphire."

"And you're the reason he's been lacking?" He said almost accusingly.

"that would be a strong possibility.." her eyes narrowed a little.

Brogan stepped forward, "pop..."

Me. Brockstein glared him down, "I told you not to have distractions. When you have distractions you lose focus!"

Brogan seemed to back down a little

Sapphire couldn't believe what she was seeing and this guy was making her madder by the second her hair starting to darken out to black "You know you really shouldn't be so hard on him..I've never met anyone with amazing intellect, drive and power like Brogan.. really you should consider yourself lucky to have him." she crossed her arms glaring now.

"Now she's questioning me in my own home. You sure can pick them can't you?" He shot sarcastically at Brogan.

"Listen you. Brogan has the potential to get past his parents and be one of the best aurors and I don't need anyone ruining it for him, got it?"

"As long as that's what he want's he knows I fully support it.. the last thing I want to do is ruin anything for him." she slipped her hand back into his.

"I told you Brogan, you need to be heartless to defeat Voldemort and them."

"If Maria kept did that she'd still be here..."

She looked at Brogan curiously "who's Maria?"

"Mrs. Brockstein..." He explained glumly, remembering how it used to be before that.

"I'm so sorry.. I didn't know...when you said them earlier I just assumed..." she gave his hand a light squeeze understanding why he hadn't said anything.

"But now Brogan has to focus! He can't have anyone making him soft! So get out!" He gestured for the door.

"Pop..." Brogan piped in but was smacked by Mr. Brockstein on the arm.

"You get no say. This is for your own good."

She gazed at Brogan for a moment  "I don't want to mess up things for you here.. I'll go.. you know where to find me.." with one last glare toward Brockstein she headed for the door.

"Wait..." Brogan ran toward her.

She stopped taking a deep breath turning to face him "I'm just going to cause problems for you here.. I'm not very good at not speaking my mind.."

"Just.. please... don't.."

"Get over it boy! She would've left you eventually. Who would want to be with the son of a death eater?"

Sapphire's eyes flashed dangerously as she stepped past Brogan to Brockstein. "Listen here you inflated ego maniac, I would be incredibly insane to walk away from some one as amazing as Brogan so don't ever attempt to judge my actions again. Who cares if his parent's were Death Eaters? that doesn't give you any right to treat him in this manner.. and he deserves better than the pathetic minded likes of you." she had never gotten so worked up in some one else's defence really, looking as though her hand might fly across his face at any moment.
