St Mungos Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injurys

Joachim's eyes widened as he understood what she said, "You.. heard huh?"

'Yeah. I was awake...'

"Well why didn't you say anything then?"

'Because...this is really awkward and Im half excepting you to laugh or walk off and i didnt want you too. I dont...I was scared i would loose you, ok?'

He just stayed silent, a pin could drop from a yard away and he'd hear it. Was this what he thought it was...?

'See?' She said in the silence. 'Now ive scared you because you dont need me and i cant even stand up to walk away with dignity.'

"No.. I'm staying quiet because I.. want to hear you..."

'I dont know what to say, Joachim.' She sighed. 'I have a hundred spells, thousands of words, and i dont know how to say this. Why do you think i stood in the way of that spell so you could get away?'

"Well... because.." His mouth went dry. His hands became clammy as he tried to think coherently.

She smiled, watching him. 'And now you are experiencing how I feel.'

"..." He struggled to come up with words, "Oh my god this whole thing is driving me nuts! So do you..?"

'Do I what?' Part of her was enjoysing this- it was the first time she had ever seen him lost for words.

"I don't know, like me?" He braced himself for whatever answer she would give.

She grinned, leaning her head on his shoulder and lacing her hand with his. 'what do you think?'

"Just to be sure you're clear on this... you like an alcoholic, smoking, amoral kleptomaniac. I have all this right now?" He asked her as he looked into her eyes wondering if it was true.

'I like my best friend. Someone who is loyal and caring...at the same time as being an  alcoholic, smoking, amoral kleptomaniac.'

It was then.
When she.. humanized him that it happened.

He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her in, not as an excuse to feel her against him but to embrace her.

She hugged him back, her skin still slightly warmer than it should be, but she wasnt sure if it was from being injured...or the fact that she had actually told him. 'you do know....like, everyone knew this, right?'

"Come again?" He asked her confused.

"Its true boss, everyone back in the inn was taking bets on how long this would take!" Sawyer chimed in from the next room, "You've made me a lot of money!"

"Hate you Sawyer!!" Joachim yells at him.

"I know!" Sawyer chuckled in a cartoonish evil laugh and went silent again.

She laughed. 'Admittedly, i didnt know they were doigng that. Although im not suprised.'

"Yeah well, when we get back to the inn I'm docking their pay..." He grumbled as he turned back to her, "Sooo.. yeah.." He started awkwardly, "This is different.

'Im ill. Ill be back to shouting at you in a few days. Dont worry.'

"Oh good, I almost was starting to miss having a moral pain in my ass..." He winked at her with a light smirk. 

"But seriously kiddo, get better quick."
