He froze, his eyes shuttig in pain. 'Thanks for clearing that up.' He whispers. He walked toward the door, dropping a single red ros (nd thorns) on the ground. he didnt look at her

He hadn't heard it; there had been a slight lilt in her voice that had indicated she was lying, that she was being insincere. But that shouldn't matter now, she'd gotten what she'd wanted, hadn't she?

'You know I always liked them with the thorns..' she mumbled, moving to pick it up almost instantly. Amaya couldn't help it, her heart ached.

He looked at her sadly. 'Of course i know that...'

Tears watered her eyes, and she was glad he wasn't facing her in that moment. 'I'm sorry Tomas, I really am..'

'Saying sorry doesnt change anthing though.'

'I had to do it..' she couldn't justify it, not really. Especially when he'd returned, when he'd been so damn kind to her.

'Thank you, by the way, for treating me with respect.' she spoke quietly, embarassed.

'how else would i treat you?'

'Like shit. A lot of people do.' she pointed out, adopting an indifferent tone.

'well, im not a lot of people.'

'Maybe you should be..' Amaya trailed off, shaking her head sadly. 'Cause all i ever do is treat people like shit in return.'

He ighed. 'Not everyone, apparently.'

She shot him a withering look. 'And that's supposed to mean..?'

'Well, your the one that said you were tryng to be faithful to somone else. cant be treatinghim like shit.'

'Ok, i treat 99% of people like shit, happy?' she felt exasperated, drained.
'you think Im happy all this happened?'

'I dont know! You arethe one making it all hppen

'you know what Tomas? fuck you. i dont need you here making me feel bad for a choice which in the long run was best. There was no spark, no passion between us, it had to end before it became painful.'

He looked away from her for a second, then walked over to her, puttin his hands on her cheeks and looking at her. 'I think this is hurting you far more than your aying.' He whispered. 'ANd not because ther wasnt spark, i thik its hurting you to do this....not matter how right you think you are.'

'Of course it's hurting me, i think it would hurt anyone if they got a divorce.' she used an obvious excuse, remaining rigid and unyeilding. Amaya simply stared back at him, trying to keep a plain expression. 'I am right, i know myself.'

'No, its more than that.' He gave her a brief, sad smile. 'I know you, remember. It is more than that.'

Her response was cold, upholding the indifferent air. 'No, if you knew me, you'd understand why i divorced you, and we wouldn't have got married in the first place.'

she knew hiding her ulterior motives was futile, but she didnt care.

He laughed under his breath, leaning his forehead on hers. 'I broke your walls, amay. i know you because you let me know you. and i know that this is always your fear responce'.

'And that was the worst mistake i ever made.' there was a hint of fear, paranoia in her voice. It was rare for the girl to be so vulnerable, scared even.

It was because he was right.

Her body practically froze, leaving her helpless. She hated that she'd let him in, it meant she couldn't push him away as easily as she'd like to, that she couldn't hide behind her sarcastic exterior.

He sighed. 'Im scaring you. Im sorry. Ill go.' He hesitated before leaning down and touching his lips to hers, before stepping away rom her.
