"Then you have made the right ally."
Pitch smirked smoothly, his pointed face twisting in amusement.

At the mention of Holmes, again, the man glanced to Jim with raised brows, though he said nothing.

Jim smiled pleasantly and poured himself another cup of tea. "I need Sherlock to be driven towards me," he said in a conversational tone. "But not just as a rival." He peered at Pitch over the top of his teacup.

"So you're saying you want Holmes driven toward you in desperation, perhaps...?"

The Nightmare King watched Moriarty pour his tea, and shifted in his seat, now creating a small ball of the black sand in his hand, playing with it's shifting form.

"You want him to depend on you for the safety of the people he cares about, yes?"

Jim smirked, swirling the contents of his cup. "Not quite."

He paused, taking a long draught before answering. And when he did, there was a lazy smile on his lips. "I want him to want me. To want to be around me, to be with me. You know as well as I do that he does not care for emotions... Perhaps it's time he learned to appreciate them, mm?"

Not quite...?
Pitch looked up from the ball of Nightmare Sand within his fingers, clutching his hand into a fist.
The sand fell to the table lifelessly, as he no longer wasted his time with playing with it.

His voice leaned in sarcasm and a smooth, good-natured mocking.
"And here I was, thinking the gay side of you was a joke."

A pause, a scowl, and a cross of the arms after the man brushed his hands clean onto the table.
"And what sort of nightmares do you suggest will bring him to that..? Mm?"

Jim rolled his eyes. "No, it isn't a joke." He raised a hand to tap the side of his head. "Richard is the one who prefers women... I do not." He shrugged, offering nothing else on the matter of his sexual orientation.

"I was thinking perhaps something to drive him away from those he does care about... He already harbours some sort of... respect for me, I suppose you could say, considering we are of equal intelligence."

What a funny little human.
Pitch frowned slightly, closing his golden eyes in thought.

"I see. A nightmare to drive him away from his friends. Already done that... should be easy."
A smile snaked over the pointed face of the Nightmare King, as a manipulative and seductive chuckle rolled over his lips and floated in the air.
"The most complex minds are usually the easiest to break."

Jim pursed his lips, clearly amused. "Aren't they just? And luckily for him, I'll be there to fix his." He put on a comforting tone. "'Did that nasty John Watson be mean to you, Sherly? Dear, dear. Jim will make it all better.'"

Sickened slightly by the comforting tone in the opposite's voice, Pitch wrinkled his nose and curled his lips in a grimace of disgust.

"All right, all right I get it. Honestly, get a room when I'm done."

Jim laughed lightly. He put his teacup down on the table and folded his hands under his chin. "Once you've done your part, I won't bother you unless I need anything more from you. And, as promised, I will give you the belief that you asked for."

"Of course. And this promise of yours best stay unbroken. I've had my fill of betrayal already, and I'm perfectly willing to break your mind if I'm forced to."


The Nightmare King rose from his seat, the makeshift chair dissipating into shadows and retreating into his robes.
He straightened out the v-neck of the cloak, and gave a hissing sigh.
"Luckily for me, I can break a few more minds than Holmes' on this little... mission."

"I keep my promises."

Jim stood too, giving his suit a quick brush with his hands - not that it needed it. "Do enjoy yourself, won't you? I do wish I could witness the nightmare but..." He trailed off with a shrug, gesturing at the dining room. "I'd best clean up and prepare."

Pitch smiled smoothly to Moriarty and inclined his head in curt politeness.


"Of course. And I quite expect you to keep to it. Broken promises... are lovely fodder for nightmares. Good Day, Jim..."

"It was a pleasure doing business with you, Pitch," he replied. "I wish you the best of luck."
