The Library

"You're welcome, love. I'll leave you to it."

As they neared the library an odd sort of pain shot through Sapphires chest causing her to breath in a gasp, but she ignored it for now. After all it had been a while since she really ran.

I run in right behind Saphire, heaving a little. "Wow... I've REALLY gotten out of shape from my thieving days..."

She stopped just before the doors the pain in her chest was still there but she ignored it "I told ya I'd beat you." she teased him.

"Guess I need to be hittin' the gym if little girls can beat me.." I tease her right back as I take a look around,

"Wow, if I every told myself from the past I would be in a library one day, I'd swear I was crazy."

She giggled "I run.. a lot. So don't beat yourself up too hard for loosing." she smirked a little as she thought of where to even begin "Libraries are amazing.. so much knowledge simply sitting on shelves waiting to be read and learned.." she sounded like a complete nerd but didn't care.

"Alright alright, keep your pocket protectors in..." I nudge her playfully as I start looking through the shelves.

"hey I'm proud to be a nerd ." she smirked "I think over here might be a little bit better.." she was leading in toward the area where all things divination were. She figured what he has is like a seer ability anyway so why not start there.

I walk over and start looking through the shelves and eventually find a book that seemed different from the other ones. It talked about muggle witch hunts.

Saph floated a few older looking books from the top shelf, before setting them neatly on the table near by "as completely not fun research usually is.. for some reason I feel like having you around is going to make it more interesting."

"Let's hope we can find something in here that can help us anyway..." I start to pour open the books and read through them.

She opened a few books scattering them in front of her her eyes darting from page to page and then flipping pages and doing the same thing, every now and then she would run her finger across the page as though making sure she read a certain line correctly looking hopeful before shaking her head and turning the pages.

I read that out of place 'witch hunt' book and read a particularly disturbing passage.

"Saph! I found something!"

She scooted closer to him s "really!? what's it say?"

The book described how and who muggles would hunt during the dark ages, the days of the witch hunts and burnings at the stake.

The passage in question read, Along with suspected vampires and werewolves, some muggle authorities with the collaboration and assistance of the Ministry of Magic added Evil Eye user to their hunting quarry.

Procedures for burning them at the stake were made easier by blindfolding them as their magic generally wasn’t too great without the aide of their magical eyes.

Droves upon droves of them were burnt alive after their attempted coup d’état, leaving all but a handful alive.

In a single day, the number of people with the evil eyes dropped from the thousands to the one hundreds.

Her jaw dropped "thats... barbaric wouldn't even begin to cover that.."

"There... used to be more like me... I thought it was just... rare... not that... we were almost extinct!" A cold dread washes through me as I read it again as though to be sure I read it correctly.

She shook her head "how can anyone just genocide an amazing group of people with incredible powers like that.." she was baffled by it all.

I close the book and chuck it aside, trying to keep my cool.

She wrapped her arm around his shoulders trying to comfort him "Toph... I'm really sorry.." she didn't know what else to say.

"I'm good.... let's... just keep looking for charm shit.." I quickly grab the next book and try to pour into it.

She pulled the book from his hands "I'll figure it out later hun.. lets just go somewhere else for now.." she took his hand looking at him with a friendly smile.

I look at her a little bewildered, "Where?"
