we step out into the corridor and i lead us to a closed door. I nod to it. 'Are you sure you want to find it? i mean...knowing prophecies about yourself...well...'

-We walk through the halls with shelves upon selves of Prophecies- I HAVE to know River...

-I find #521 and take it into my hand, a ghostly voice speaks-

A son, not of the world,
Not a born child, An Ersatz,
Taker of but one life,
Lover of one who hears all,
Its being threatens nature,
Law, and peace
As it lives, it breathes in order
And exhales chaos
No stability comes from its existence

Nature must be appeased,
A fortress will be built,
To serve as home and altar,
There the blood of it’s masters must be split,
By one who seeks perfect justice, a Seeker
However it, the Ersatz
Will change the Seeker’s mind,
The deaths on the altar
Will help appease nature,
Punished are those who embrace the Ersatz
Triumphant are those who reject it

Nature must be appeased,
The Ersatz’s life
Must cease
On the day of it’s creation
On the altar where the ones who
Brought it into this world
Lived and bleed
Their deaths and it’s, the Ersatz,
Will appease nature once again

The Ersatz is loved by many,
Friend to many,
More to Three,
One holds its heart, affection returned
One is a dear friend, affections not returned
The last one he now holds pity, affections once returned
A lock of hair from each must be collected and burnt,
To help appease nature,
And restore the peace

I listen, frowning, then replay it in my mind. 'Thats...that doesnt sound too good...'

-Silent for a few moments- So... I have to die...

'no! you cant die! im not having another person die! there has to be a way round this prophecy...'

-Sighs- I don't know if there is...

I grap his shoulders and shake him, making him look at me. 'Dont you dare give up and think this is it! i wont let you die!'

-Sighs- River, I wasn't meant to live anyway... and if this restores peace...

'Peace never lasts. you cant think like that! what would it do to liria? to everyone that loves and cares about you?'

-Frowns- Do me a favor... don't tell her what it said...

i sigh. 'I wont. Because you are going to.'

-Frowns- The last thing I need is her knowing... she'll be devastated! I'd rather her just worry about what to get as a present on the "day of ITS creation"

-I slam my fist against the wall-

I flinch. 'Artemis. i dont care what this says- you are not an it you are a person! do you think Liria would be even less devastated if she didnt know...and you just...died?'

If she thought I'd died on a mission, she could at least be proud of me... died as a hero, not a sacrificial lamb!
