Ningen Village

"Wise man..." He stepped back, satisfied with his backing down. It was hardly a secret of the realms that Diarmidians were usually eager for a fight and quite good at it, and they knew this. 

"You have no need to fear here. I work not with Bara, however you do seem knowledgeable on the subject..."

"It's wise to know one's enemy to defeat that enemy."

'Not on the best terms it seems. Interesting.'


Ovauzhar smirked in approval, "Agreed. So what do you know of your foe?"

"I know that she's a power-hungry demon that will do ANYTHING to get her way... She's very cunning and intelligent, and has lived for a couple centuries."

"I see. Have some fowl history with her?"

"Every human in existence does.  She's a demon walking the earth, oppressing all that she can, selfishly killing innocent, ignorant people for her own entertainment.  It's because of her and her kind that I became what I am today."

Ovauzhar grunted as he thought it over in his head. His goddess condemned any battle against those who could not defend themselves. Would stepping on a worm bring honor?

However he just met this man, and his truth could very well be as false as Bara's. He could know nothing certainly unless he saw with his own eyes.

"And what exactly are you?"

"A vampire slayer."  Having been a priest himself, he doesn't tell lies.  He'd only ever do it if necessary.

"A necessity for being a human in these parts I imagine..." He had heard tales of these slayers. Truly commendable indeed. 

Facing creatures of darkness against overwhelming odds, The Watcher surely would smile upon that.

"Might I ask why you were at the palace?  Was Bara offering something to you?"

"And if she was?" He asked skeptically as he  started to slowly reach for his sword just in case.

"I would advise you against it... If she's kind to you and is offering great things, it is only for her own personal gain.  She cares nothing about you."

The reaper chuckled heartedly, as though he told a really dated joke, "No one does. I'm a wanted man, dishonorably exiled by the 'emperor'..." He spat on the ground to show his disdain for the one who had stripped him of his dignity and reputation.

"There's always someone who will care for you, whether they be in this world or watching from above."

He looked down at the cross he wore on his chest, "Is that the symbol of your goddess?"

"Of our God, yes..."

"I'll admit, I've not learned much of the spiritualities of other realms."

"But in any case. That is why I came to this village, to learn about her to know whether to accept or not."

"Do what you wish.  But never trust her, no matter how much it seems she trusts you."

"Believe me, I know better than to trust any sovereigns..."

"Then you are very wise."

"That being said, if you are leader here, the same rule applies for you..."

"Of course..."

"Is that all you need to say?" Ovauzhar asked, eager to continue with his business.

"Just some advice in case you're unfortunate enough to run into a vampire... Garlic is their greatest weakness.  All their abilities are weakened at the presence of it, and if they ingest it, they'll die...  This includes Bara, of course."

"Garlic..." He mulled the thought over in his head, "An odd thing for creatures of darkness to be vulnerable to."

"Nonetheless, it's useful information." He bowed in appreciation for this. The general inside of him became ecstatic at the prospect of having a leg up on Bara should he ever require it. 

'It's just like The Word of the Watcher says, if it can bleed, it can die.'
