The Forest

A simple area of woodland, with clearings dotted throughout it. It's several acres in size, and in the heart of it, the noises of nearby towns or cities fade away to nothing. It's a private place where a person can go undisturbed.

Setting down a crate containing the prototype suit, Tony straightened and looked around. He was stood in the centre of one of the clearings, with a patch of sky clear over his head. That would be helpful if he managed to get off the ground.

"Not bad, huh?"

"Yeah, I'll say, she's a beaut!" I marvel at this miracle of mechanical proportion (I smell a book title!)

Tony began to pick pieces out of the crate. He started with the parts that would go over his torso and lower body, since they'd be the easiest to put on and take off.

He smiled at one of the pieces of shiny red metal. "Let's just hope it works."

I get down to start helping him, "Got to say, I'm digging the paint choice!"

He grinned. "Red and gold... it's awesome. Visible. People aren't gonna be able to forget it." The bits of armour began to lock into place, covering up his clothing.

"Just the way I like it!" I give the whole of the suit a through run down with my eyes to be sure all the compartments checked out.

Once most of it was in place, Tony slid his hands into the gloves and secured them, leaving just his head free. "If this works, it's gonna be awesome." He had a mental checklist of things he wanted to make sure were functional, and he'd informed JARVIS of them as well.

"By the way, hope you don't mind if I test it's durability once we're all set..."

"Sure, go ahead. It was on my list. We need to see if the metal's good enough." Tony picked up the final bit, the helmet, and slotted it into place over his head. There was the faint whirring of gears as it locked in.

"Okay, first let's try out mobility. Walk forward."

"Alright."

As Tony took a few steps, swinging his arms in his usual stride to get them moving as well, the screen installed in the helmet lit up. It allowed him to see, and also provided little details about his surroundings for him from JARVIS.

"Seems good, now, your choie what to test next."

"Hm..." Tony's voice sounded slightly robotic from inside the suit. "Let's see what the thrusters are capable of."

"Alright! Let's see what them puppies can do!" I give him the thumbs up and step back, eager to see the results.

Tony grinned, not that Artisan could see it. He placed his hands palms-down by his sides, bending his knees just a little to prepare for take-off. After a moment's pause where he adjusted the strength of them, they started up. For now, Tony kept them at just 5% so he could learn to control them better. He managed to get off the ground a little.

With the initially jump successful, I walk closer to them, getting on my knees to take a better look at them, "Seem to e holding up good, try a little more juice..."

"Got it. Watch out," he warned. Tony kicked it up to 15%, forcing himself higher off the ground. He waved his hands a bit to keep himself level.

I jump back a bit and watch him keep his balance like a man... of iron on a tightrope.

"Doing good..." I mutter so far.

He breathed out a sigh, frowning as he wobbled. The balancing would take some getting used to. "Okay. Shall we try for real height now?"

"Go for it!" Sometimes te best way to teach a kid to swim is push him into a pool. Worked well for me... thanks gramps... almost died you prick...

"Let's see what this bad boy can do..."

This time, Tony put a real punch into it. He shot into the air like a bullet, letting out a whoop as he flew up over the trees.

I watch him from the ground amazed. "It can fly..."

((xD Aw man, it's been too long since I've watched Peter Pan.))

He circled, throwing up his arms to take sharp turns and test the capability of the suit. When he was satisfied, Tony lowered himself again, hovering just out of reach of the trees. It wouldn't be good to set them on fire accidentally, after all.

"We did it!"

"Oh yeah! Another brilliant masterpiece from Artisan Strayer!! YAHOO!!" I jump up but the remember, "And Tony Stark too!" I continue with enthusiasm!
