Quidditch Pitch

'I'm sure many people be shouting "i told you so".' he tucked her head in the crook of his neck, trying to be supportive. 'Mind if i ask you a question?'

Ah, that's better. Lukas is like a teddy bear, in a weird not-really way. "Sure, go ahead."

'Do you think i'm one of the bad guys?'

"I place you as a neutral guy," I say without hesitation. "You're not all that bad, really. I know I said you were in the beginning, but..." I gesture between him and me. "You're not being a douche now, are you? And yeah, you do douche-y things, but I can't say I've heard much about them recently. You do what's necessary, don't you?"

'Pretty much.' he summarised, before continuing. 'But in the kitsune world, especially the side i'm on, if you aren't a douche then you're a weakling..'

"Huh. Ok. That's kinda stupid, really." I sniff. "Let me guess, to other kitsune you're classed as a bad guy?"

'Probably.' he had to be careful with his words now. 'I've learnt not to care about the things i do though, because at the end of the day i'm just surviving. I do what i have to, even if most people aren't going to like it..'

I shrug, or as well as I can while leaning against him. "Fair enough."

'So you really dont care about me being an asswipe?' it was almost disappointing, he revelled in other people's distress.

"Dude, seriously. My only other friend is my twin. Objectively, yeah, you are an asswipe, but it doesn't bother me." I roll my eyes.

'I thought not having many friends didn't bother you?'

"It doesn't. I'm perfectly happy with you and Phoenix being the only ones I really give a damn about."

ic 'Why only me and your sister then? I mean, why you care for family is obvious, but like you said before, im not special.' he was genuinely intrigued, and also slightly confused.

"Because you get me," I say honestly. "I'm on the good side, but I'm not the ideal person. The way they all act is overwhelming. I have a 'do whatever I want' personality, and you get that. You don't try to push me to act a certain way."

'i dont see a reason to make you unhappy.' he murmured, considering. 'and dont blame them for being so..moral, they just want to do the right thing.'

"And I get that, I do, but it's boring," I complain. "I want to be helpful, I really do, it'd make Nix happy, and my brothers happy, and everyone else happy, but I just can't do it. Not completely."

'nobody expects you to be a saint.' he murmured, pressing his lips into her hair. 'we can't all wear capes and fly.'

"But everyone else practically is one. Yeah, everyone has faults and all that crap, but theirs are smaller. They get over 'em. I can't even be much help in the field now, can I?" I gesture at my left leg, scowling.

'You don't need to be a soldier to be a good fighter. What about healers, or the ones who direct the others in the first place? You don't see them running around firing curses.'

"Ugh, please. That's what Phoenix would do. Tactics and helping Eugene with healing. I'd get bored quickly." I sigh heavily. I know I'm just whining now, really, but now that the floodgate's opened...

Luckily, Lukas was patient, nodding carefully and keeping his arm around her shoulder. 'Well, what would you want to do then?'

"Some sort of fighting," I admit. "Somehow, if I can manage it. I'm getting better at moving with my leg, but I'm still not as agile as I was. I've been meaning to ask Artisan if he could adapt my walking stick somehow, make it badass and useful in a fight."

'You could always ask Eugene y'know, i heard he's a scientist and stuff. Or that Ace girl.' i have a contract with one of her sisters anyway, wouldn't be hard to manipulate her.

he shook the thought away, deciding not to add it on to his sentence. 'I could try healing it again too, i just want you to be satisfied.'

"Thanks," I say, but not in a way to take him up on his offer. "I guess I could speak to Eugene. Either him or Artisan, I guess. I've never spoken to Ace."

'Anything you want me to do..?' he inquired, willing to offer his aid without a catch. Considering he hadn't done something selflessly in over a century, this was quite a stretch for him.
