She paused, summing it up. 'Isn't that why you believe in the Dark Lord? In hope for a better world?'

Her words do hold merit, and my failures trecently open my eyes to a truth I hate, no despise, no THROUGHLY LOATHE to admit. Despite all my abilities and brilliance, I'm not infallible. Only the Dark Lord is that.

Rookie mistake Donia. 'Damn it.' she kicked the side of the alley in frustration at herself. 'Fine. As much as I'd like to bond with your merry band of failures, my mission won't allow for it.'

Her tone was more bitter and chiding this time. The girl's tone only seemed to get colder when she was angry.

My grin seems to contort to a grin that held anger in my eyes, "And yet were not you that said that Artemis escaped? Were it me, he'd never have slipped through the Dark Lords fingers."

Her tone was nothing but scathing now. 'Oh I'm sorry that I was mistaken for the enemy, battered into unconsciousness and I presumed I was going to be killed.'

Her fists had clenched, but her growing fury wasn't warm in any form, it was more like a coming blizzard. But she kept it under control, she had practice.

She automatically stepped back, not out of discomfort but out of defiance, Donia refused to be patronised.
