The Leaky Cauldron

"They can hear you," he said, perking up a bit.

Seventeen waved at Sam. "Hiiiii!"


Joshua smiled down at Seventeen and then nodded politely to Sam. "Hey."


"They both say hi."

Curious, Sam asks, "Can anyone else see them?  If you don't mind me asking..."

He shook his head. "No. Only I can. My nanny said it was because I was special."

Sam smiles. "I've always been special too..."

His eyes widened as he stared at her. "You're like me? You see things too?" He'd never, in his short life, met someone else that was like him. He thought he was all alone in the world, that no one would ever understand him.

Joshua shook his head. "I don't think she meant it that way, man."


Seventeen gave a sad smile at Kevin. "Maybe... You don't know Joshie."

"I don't see things... But I can do this..."  Sam lifts up her sketchbook with her mind and flips through the pages without even touching it.

"Was that magic? But you didn't use a wand! How did you do that?" He was baffled by her talent.

Sam blushes. "It's called telekinesis. I can move anything with my mind. I was born with it..."

"Is it kind of like schizophrenia? Because I was born with that and I can do special things with my mind."

"Not exactly, Kev. It's something different."

"I don't think it's that... I believe I got it from my father." Sam sighs, the thought of her poor father making her sad.

"Oh... Is your dad a bad man? Mine is."

"Well... It's complicated..." Sam bites her lip, trying to think of a way to explain. "He's not really bad... He's just insane. He's been better lately, but he's so bipolar that e'll switch from psychotic episodes to hating himself."

He didn't understand a lot of the words coming out of her mouth but there was one that he did. One that cut him like a knife: insane.

He'd been called that his entire life by his parents. There was nothing good about being insane.


Someone laughed softly from behind Kevin.


He turned and looked at Temp. "What are..."

"Oh, pretty boy. Do you not like that word?" she crooned from her spot on top of the table behind them. "Insane?"

Sam sees the look on his face and then immediately feels guilty. "I'm sorry! Did I offend you?"

He let out a shaky breath and spoke softly, still looking at Temp. "G-go away, T-temp."

She laughed softly and hopped off the table. She made her way over to Kevin and Sam. She reached out and cupped Kevin's cheek. "Don't be so rude, Kevin. Your words hurt me." She slapped him across the face. "Apologize."

Sam looks really worried. She wants to help him, but she can't see what he can.

OOC Things are about to get interesting. I hope Sam can handle a magical outburst and a panicing kid

IC "I'm sorry Temp!" he apologised quickly. He looked over at Sam with pleading eyes. He just wanted to go hide in a dark hole right now.

Temp looked over at the girl sitting across from him. "Who's this Kevin? Isn't she a little too pretty for you?"


"T-this is Sam. Please leave her alone Temp. I'm sorry. I'll leave now," he muttered.

Sam wishes she knew what to do. She's never been in a situation like this before. "Who's Temp?"

He was getting frazzled in everything that was going on. "She's right here. I can't- She's- I'm sorry."

"What are you sorry for boy? Tell me."


"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry," he kept muttering over and over, clutching his head. He could feel the familiar buildup of magic inside of him. It'd been a long time since he'd had an outburst and he knew that if he didn't leave now, things would only get worse.

"What's she doing?" Sam looks genuinely worried.

OOC 

His breathing started coming in rapid bursts. His eyes widened and he stared at the floor below him. "I- I. She- Magic..." He wasn't thinking rationally anymore. The panic had risen up inside him until it took over his body. He began whimpering and talking nonsense.

"Kevin, what are you sorry for?" Temp asked calmly. She wasn't going to give up until she got an answer.

Sam gets up and goes next to him.  She knows panic attacks.  "Kevin..."  She gently grips him by the shoulders, trying to stay calm, to calm him down.  "Everything's okay..."

He shook his head back and forth. "No, it's not. Get away from me. I don't want to hurt you."

"Let it go Kevin. Let your magic free!"


The pressure inside him was building steadily. He couldn't hold it back!

Sam's kind and caring nature doesn't let her leave him.  "I just want to help, Kevin..."
