She actually wasn't one for mollycoddling, but she accepted it, knowing she was in no fit state to push people away. 'No, I should've been the one that died, not them. They were strong, fierce and brave, things i could never be.'

Brynmor... dead...

His first friend... gone...

Eagle wipes away his tears with trembling hands. He doubted Bryn - or Amaya or Sydnay, for that matter - would want to see him so upset.

But still... Bryn was the one he was closest to, aside from Ace. The thought of never speaking to him again is too painful to consider at the moment. Eagle simply stays knelt, pressing the heels of his hands into his eyes, trying to control the shaking of his shoulders.

Ace carefully lay Sydnay back on the ground, wishing she could feel the girl's pulse, or her heartbeat, but she knew the blonde was well and truly gone.

She crept over to Eagle, folding her arms around him, wordless as the tears finally snuck out of her eyes.

'No, i'm really not strong, thats why they protected me all this time.' Mer whispered, trying to remain still.

"There's a reason for everything, Meredia... So there's a reason you lived when they didn't." I say it gently, "Everything will be okay..."

He sags into her shoulder, unable to think clearly, let alone offer words of comfort. The most he can do is pull her into a tight hug.

Meredia peered over in the direction of Ace and Eagle, they were hugging, she could tell. At least her remaining sister had someone who could comfort her, Mer knew she wouldn't be able to do it well enough.

'Nobody deserves to be taken so cruelly.' she pointed to Bryn, how he looked a horrific sight.

Ace exhaled, but it was more of a rasp, realizing again that she could barely feel anything, all of her senses and emotions had dulled.

Eagle's emotions are the opposite to Ace's. They are sharp, stabbing him in the heart over and over relentlessly. They won't leave him alone. Every time he thinks he's recovering, another jab from his feelings tells him otherwise.

Her hold on him tightened, refusing to let him go in case he left her as well. Ace couldn't describe how she felt, there was just....nothing, yet. Her mind had blocked everything out, a stifling shroud of cotton wool which would soon dissipate.

When he speaks, his voice is little more than a hoarse whisper. "What do we do now?"

'I don't know.' she admitted, feeling tears sting her eyelids again. Ace couldn't think, her brain wouldn't allow it.

He clings to her, unwilling to let go. Ace is real, still alive. Warm. Her heart is beating. Safe.

'It's because of them I'm safe..' she mumbled, burying her head in his shoulder. Ace didn't know what to say, her wits had completely left her.

Meredia however, had already began cleaning up, wincing as she used magic to remove the blobs of blood from Bryn's face.

He shudders. "Oh, God, Ace. If you'd been here... you would be..."

'Not neccessarily.' Mer whispered, forcing herself to clean her brother. It was heart-wrenching for the girl, knowing Bryn would never be here to talk reason into her, to stop her sisters from figh-

They can't fight, they're dead too. She broke down once more, anguish renewed, wondering if it ended.

'I might've been able to save them, had i been here.' Ace muttered, trembling.

'Now isnt the time for worrying, Eagle.' her tone was almost a little too curt, but she didn't let go of him, rubbing his back in apology. Ace was surprised she wasn't collapsed in a heap on the floor, she felt like she wanted to do that, but couldn't find the willpower to move.

'Shut up shut up SHUT UP!!' she abruptly screeched, slamming her hands over her ears and dashing away from the scene, from her beloved and from the pain chewing at her insides. Ace couldn't handle their deaths, not yet anyway, she wasn't ready for it to be said aloud.

None of this could be real.
