OOC: I only have 10 minutes, btw, then I need to go to school

IC: I chuckle and perch on a free space on the table, watching him with amusement.

"However did you afford all of this?" I ask her while my eyes were absolutely clued to everything.

"Most of it was a matter of clearing the place out and putting protective enchantments over it. Oh, by the way, if either of us ever transform while we're in here, I managed to fashion a spell that will allow whoever it is to escape into the woods.

"I went back to the Tsangpo Canyon to get some of this stuff, though."

"Ahh that makes sense, I guess we never really did go back to see if anything was salvageable."

"Exactly, I thought it was worth a try."

I smile happily, just envisioning all the work I could do in here and then something shameful hits me.

"Your present won't be as impressive I'm afraid."

I slip off the table and hug him. "I really don't mind. It's the thought that counts. I'll love it anyway, I'm sure."

I pull out the large white box from my bag and hand it over to her. "I hope you enjoy it."

I kiss his cheek. "I'm sure I will. Thank you." I look at it curiously, wondering what could possibly be inside it. I'll admit, I'm baffled. Head tilted to the side, I open it.

Inside were limited, first edition copies of the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy. They were even signed by J.R.R. Tolken on the cover of each and every one of them.

I stare at them for a moment, completely at a loss for words. First edition and signed...? It's a Ravenclaw's dream come true.

I carefully put them on the table, then hug Eugene tightly. "You were definitely wrong in thinking it wasn't as good. It's amazing. Thank you!"

I hug her back, a little surprised. A stack of books was on par with a laboratory? Interesting.
"You're welcome birdie! It took a bit to track those down. Luckly Topher helped me out a bit."

"I'll have to thank him as well." I tuck my face into his shoulder, smiling. "You're wonderful, you know."

He still never fully explained how he knew where the author lived. He only told me, 'it used to pay off to know her rich folk live.'

"Nowhere near as perfect as you."

I laugh, remembering a similar conversation - perhaps the last time we were at Purley? "Not this again," I tease.

"Oh dear, it seems we've hit the infinite loop of flattery again.." I Chuckle.

"It always seems to come back, doesn't it?"

"Yes, it's as unavoidable as the ambiguity of Schrodinger's cat."

... Uh, ok. "I'll take your word for it," I chuckle.

"Perhaps next year I'll get you a 'Science for Beginner's' book." I pat her shoulders with an amused smile on my face.

I laugh. "That sounds like a good idea. Then maybe I could help you with some experiments."

I smirk at her, "You can still help me, you can be the sideeffects test subject.."

"Let me rephrase: then I can help you more," I snigger.
