"Protect her from the Ministry?"

Ged gave a stiff nod, sighing.


"Joachim, some things are best than many keep their noses out of.. but if you wish to know, just ask..."

-I think for a second but then my resolve and loyalty form again.- "No... If you say it's right, well then it can't be that far off the right path."

"If ya need my help, let me know."

Ged smiled slightly at Joachim, his eyes gentle.

"You're a good man, Joachim. You're free to keep your houses here, even after what is to come. Feel free to call this your home as long as you wish."

"What's to come? What, are we going' to war or something?" -I ask with an odd amount of concern for everyone here.-

"I can't tell," Ged spoke sorrowfully, as if fearing for his people.

"All I know is that if the Ministry has their heart to it, all we can do it fight.... fight, and hope that some will survive.."

"That's bullshit... you and the rest of the people here... we didn't do jack!" -I say with complete indignation.-

A chuckle, Ged shook his head.

"Thing is, they think we have done something. If anything they just want me dead. And they'll kill all in their path."

'Well then, let me strike 'em first! I ain't lettin' them get you!"

Ged laughed, his face lighting up.

"Oh, Joachim. You are brave... if the Ministry does attack, I would rather you stay alive, as well as Cynder. Freedom can protect me, do not worry..."

A pause.

"On that note, I was thinking about something..."

"You'll find I have an innate, and sadly experienced sense of survival."

"But anyways, what's up?"

Ged inhaled and gave a small sigh.

"I would like to break our contract, Joachim... Our blood deal, so to say.."

-I look at him confused.- "Wait... why? Was it somethin' I said?"

Ged couldn't help but grin.

"Well, it's actually everything you've said. I would like to cut our deal for work as payment- and let you keep your new abilities for the rest of your life..."

"Ged... you're REALLY thinkin' I'm much more than I am." -I say glumly.- "I'm just some street-wise, jackass partygoer... I don't know what you see in me, I'm glad you see it but still..."

-I confess to him somberly.-

Ged's expression turned serious.
He moved slowly and placed his hands on Joa's shoulders, looking him right in the eyes.


"Joachim..."
He spoke, his eyes kind.
"That is precisely why I've chosen you. You're honest. And brave. And you're ready to start anew- to turn away from a darker past. You're more then you think. Understand that, all right?"

-I sigh but smile weakly back at Ged.- "I'll try, alright? But ah... don't expect any miracles."

"You're human, Joachim. I don't expect anything but who you are."

A smile, the palm of his hand glowed once more, and another small press of magic flowed through the two of them.

"Our bond is separated. You're free to do what you wish, though I hope you do decide to stay here, with all of us. You also will still have your extra form inside of you, all right?"

A smile, the man turned away, leaning his weight on his staff again, looking out over his underground, over his people.
And he sighed.

"Thank you, for being here. I couldn't have chosen better."

"Believe me, you REALLY could've..."

"But I'll stick around here. Seems like a good place." -I walk alongside Ged, wondering how the people here are. Odds are they'll just turn their noes to the sky the second they see my ragged clothes, unkempt appearance...-

Ged walked down the path quietly for a few moments before several women seemed to run up, with excited looks.
They all wore a wrap around their heads, to keep their hair from their faces. They also wore shorter shorts, along with a sort of different coloured wrap to cover their top half.
These were their work clothes, in all obviousness.

"Oh Sparrowhawk, you're back! Is Cynder here with you? Or is it the new boy you told us about?"

They all seemed to talk in unison of the same thing. The same question of who was visiting.
The man stopped and gave a laugh.

"Women, please. This is Joachim. He's the newcomer I told you of."

The woman looked at Joachim and gaped, instantly turning their attention to him.

"Oh, where do you come from?" "How did you met Ged?" "Do you know Cynder?" "What form did you take?"

Ged laughed more heartily at the Women's curiosity.
They didn't seem at all fazed by how Joachim looked.

Finally, a commanding woman's voice spoke from the group.

"Slow down girls, slow down! Is this boy handsome or not? Come on, let me through.. besides, you should all be still working."

The woman laughed as another pushed through, looking at Ged.

"So," She spoke, "Where's this... Joachim, mm?"

Ged motioned to the boy.
"There, Toki. He's right there."

The woman, Toki, paused and looked at Joachim before giving a great, honest grin.

"Oh, Hey! You're not handsome! You're Gorgeous!"

-Holy crap... talk about exceeding expectations. All these girls... all of them LIKE me? They don't give half a care about the way I look. They just.... accept me. This overbearing rush of affection takes hold of my chest.-

-I laugh a bit.- "And I'm stickin' here."
