"I don't know if I believe you'd do it to your husband... If you won't even risk hurting a complete stranger, how can you have the back bone to hurt your husband, whether he hates you or not?"

'Because sometimes, you have to do things like tat.'

"So you'd rather hurt people you love than complete strangers. That makes a whole lot f sense!" Jack says sarcastically.

'This...this is why i didnt want help.'

"No... This is exactly why you need help!"

I close my eyes, breathing deeply, trying to calm myself down, before i say somethng stupid

"To defeat an enemy, you need to know the enemy, which you should know him, since he's your brother. Which means you know that he's a psychopath. A sadist. He's also fairly intelligent and very powerful. He also has the help of the intelligent and powerful Raven, who is guaranteed to protect him and stop you before you can even look at him. Hell, she was trained by him! He's willing to do WHATEVER it takes to stay alive and powerful, even if it means killing you. If you can't keep an open mind and be smart about this, then I don't think you'll be good enough to even get close to him!"

'I have an open mind! but unlike everyone else fighting this, I also have a heart!'

"Having a heart doesn't mean you have to be weak! No one would ever think that Crest Strayer has a heart, but now look at him! He married my daughter and will be having a child soon! Li have a heart because I'm doing this to protect my family!  If you're not willing to risk even the smallest scathe to anyone, then you need to wake up! People WILL get hurt in this fight! It's inevitable!"

'I AM NOT WEAK!'

"THEN PROVE IT!  Stop trying to protect every single living person and take some risks!"

I was so angry, my hands shaking with the rage i was trying to control. I could see the sparks from my wand up my sleeve as i stared Jack down, speaking so calmly.. 'I take risks every day. I walk along the cliff that can drag me down to death, or worse, to help people. Never, ever, call me weak. Weak is tmy father, the one that stole rom me and took away my brother becuase he was scared of two children. Weak is my mother, the one that looked at the scars on my brothers arms from another beating that should have been mine. Weak is every person that saw us and did nothing to save us. I am not that.'

"You think you're the only one here that had an abusive father? Then why don't you cast legillimens on me and see my horrible and broken past! I bet you wouldn't have the guts!"

IC "Oh, it's not because of him I turned out like this..." Jack thinks about his past, and his eye starts to twitch. "The world made me like this!!"

I laugh, hollowly, 'I see why you hate my brother now. you are both exactly the same.'

Jack glares, his want of torturing her growing. "We mY be similar, but we are NOT exactly the same!!"

'really? because at the moment, it really looks like you are!'

As his anger grows, his telekinesis gets out of control. The house is starting to shake. "I DARE you to say that again!!"

Before River can taunt him anymore, Sally grabs her and takes her outside. "River, you shouldn't say that to him... He hates Crouch more than any living person..."

'Hes ust proving my point!'

"River... If you wouldn't mind, I'd like to tell you his story..."  Sally's eyes look sad and pleading.  She hates seeing Jack like this.  She hopes that if River knew, she'd understand.

I sigh. 'You can....but his histroy shouldnt be an excuse.'

She sighs and begins.  "Jack was born into a poorer family... His father had high expectations for him in school and in everything.  But sadly... Jack didn't live up to those expectations.  His father wanted him to be a strong athlete, but Jack loved science.  He would get a beating almost every day for the smallest things.  And what's worse... He had no friends."  Tears come to Sally's eyes.  "He was not only beaten at home, but bullied at school, for being as  smart as he was... No one liked him.  Eventually, both his parents died, sending him to an orphanage at age 16.  Not even there, there was no kindness to him.  It was there that he discovered he had telekinesis...  And his anger for the world only grew.  Anyone who bullied him then, he would start practicing his power on, in secret.  He never had any friends... Until he met me.  In college."  The tears start falling down her face.  "I was the first to show any kindness to him.  As we got to know each other, our love sparked and grew, and he saw that not all the world is rotten... But that insanity never left him.  He still hates the world.  He will always be scarred because of his past.  But I promise you, River, he's not nearly as bad as he used to be..."
