Heather's Asylum

He grabbed her by the collar, his hands shaking from a mixture of fear and anger, "Give me the key!"

Heather then stabs the needle into his arm, injecting the serum into him.  When he wakes, he should have no memory of seeing what Heather does behind the scenes.

His eye lids grew heavy, and his mind became clouded. He stumbled back from her, catching himself on the wall before sliding down to the floor passed out.

Heather takes him back to her office, where they were before he had found out anything.  She also wiped their father's memory and has him there as well.

Hours pass with no movement.

Finally, Dr. Brown rubs his eyeballs and wakes up, "Heather?" He asked as he recognized the office. "Heather dear, you here?"

Heather walks in, a fake, but convincing, smile on her face.  "Hello, dad!" She hands him a cup of water.  "How are you doing?"

He graciously takes the glass of water, and sips it slowly, letting the liquid moisten his dry throat. "Good, I guess I fell asleep. I keep telling you not to leave the heat on so high..."

Heather chuckles, "I know... I just get cold easily, as usual."

He chuckled amused, "Of course, I know my dear." even as a little girl he'd find her in her room and her room was easily in the 80's.

"So how has work been for you, dad?"

"Oh pretty uneventful. Just helping a colleague do some research on narcissistic personality disorder..."

"And how's that going? Find any new information on it?"

"Not recently. You know the trouble with people with the disorder. Very few willing people to analysis. Too proud of themselves to believe they have such a condition..." 

He shook his head, speaking as though it were the bane of his existence. "Mental irony at it's best..."

Heather nods, "Very..."

"Do you happen to know any patients that would like to sit down and talk about it?"

"He's not a patient, but I do know a person that has that disorder to an extreme degree..."

"Really? Who?" he pushed his square glasses up to his nose. The cursed things were in need of repair again.

"His name is Gabe Strayer... A very interesting case.  He has an extremely heavy schedule, though, so I don't think it's likely you'd get to talk to him."

"Are you close to him per chance?"

"Not really.  Just a few brief encounters..."  It's his brother that I'm close to, in a sense...
