Herbology Class

Herbology is the study of magical and mundane plants and fungi. In Herbology, students learn to care for and utilize plants, and learn about their magical properties, and what they are used for. Many plants provide ingredients for potions and medicine, while others have magical effects of their own right.

These classes are held in the grounds of Hogwarts, in the greenhouses. The greenhouses are located below the two main Bell Towers of the castle. Classes are held in different greenhouses depending on the students' year, with more advanced and dangerous plants typically reserved for O.W.L. or N.E.W.T.-level study.

After setting up all the Mandrakes for the next class, I sit at my desk.

I walk in as quickly as I can into the class with Crest, going straight to Professor Sprout. "Professor!" I say anxiously, "We need your help..."

"Oh dear, what student was left here this time?" I asked not in the least surprised.

"It's... It's Crest... He got cut by a strange plant..." I look up at Crest, hoping he'll explain the rest.

Wordlessly, I show her my cut which she examines, throughly.

Sprout: I shuffle myself over to my books and start pouring through them until I find the plant I believed to be the culprit, and I show them a picture of it. "Was this what it looked like?"

Sure enough, it was exactly as Crest had described.

I look at the picture, hugging on to Crest's arm (the one without the cut) tightly, anxiously. "What... What does it mean? What will it do to him?"

"This plant is an exceedingly rare one, eve I don't know all the effects for it yet. But even rumored encounters with this plant, sanitatem exhauriebat, have horrible outcomes.."

I cringe, clutching onto Crest even tighter, scared of what will happen to him.

"But all is not lost dears... if you can bring me back some of it, I can help develop a cure..."

I look up at Crest's face, "Where was it at?"

"Dearest... I..."

"What is it?" I give him my full attention.

"I.. don't know if you should come with me, what if you get scratched too?"

I look down a bit disappointedly. I know he's right, but I want to help him in any way I can. "But what about these symptoms? What if you aren't able to get it?"

"That's a risk I have to take..."

"But... What if..." I look down, my eyes watering, not wanting to say this thought out loud.

I stop her, "So you don't have to say it... you can come with me..."

I look up at him, a small smile on my face, and I hug him lovingly, "Thank you..."

"Come on... let's pick up some things."

"Okay." I walk with him.

"Is it warmer all of a sudden?" I ask her as I start to perspire on this chilly day.

"No... I'm actually pretty cold... Why?" I look at him worriedly.

"I just feel really warm..."

I place my hand on his forehead, "Is it a fever?"
