"My grandson speaks sense. We must destroy this creature before it endangers another of us!"

Cynder turned to face Enzo with a look of confusion.

"You're Top's-?"

"Yes, his grandfather," Ged assured the girl, looking to Enzo.
"Enzo we've talked about this already. I know you are biting at the bit, but we must not jump too soon. We do not want to risk these two any further...!"

Agatha: "I'm his mother, Agatha..."

Enzo: "The both of them will not be put in harms way. At least not her. But Christopher has three points now and that can supply us with an edge."

Cynder looked now to Agatha, her expression lighting with interest.

"-.. yes... I'm an old friend of Top's. My name's CYnder, ma'am. Cynder Dustypas. Pleasure~"


Ged, on the other hand, was not so calm.
He gave a shake of the head.
"Enzo, as far as we know, this man could turn each of us into one of them, and get us out of the way. Three points or not, we might still be at a disadvantage. We don't know how many people- how many kids he's turned into those dark things! Do you want to fight an army of brainwashed kids...? Do you?"

Agatha: "The pleasure is mine dear.." I smile at her tenderly.

Enzo: "I care little for what has to be done! My family's wellbeing is above any of them!"

"Christopher, come with me and I shall show you how to use those eyes to their fullest."

Cynder nodded to Agatha, before looking to the arguing men.

Her voice was soft, past her bitten and kiss-bruised lips.

"...Don't I get a say in this...?"

Enzo: "No, you're out of the question in this. This is an Enzo matter."

Agatha: "Father, I'll remind you I shed your name when I married Mael!"

Enzo: "Hardly a marriage! I never gave my permission!!"

Topher: "All of you... stop.."

Cynder winced visibly, but a look of anger rose in her expression, cheeks flushing.

As soon as Topher had silenced them, she gave a growl and a raised tone of voice.
"Unlike all of you, I know who that man once was. He was an actual man once! And you think that killing him will be good? You think harming him? I say I'll be fine because there's something sad inside of him. He's spent thousands of years alone. Thousands! A general with a daughter... lost... in war. And you think that he's just a monster?"

Enzo: "It matters not who he was. Man or not, cut a living thing and it bleeds."

Topher: "Cyn... look, I know you have the best at heart, but.. I don't know.. I'm with my grandpa on this..."

Agatha: "No, Christopher, at least hear her out.."

Cynder looked thankfully to Agatha.

Ged remained silent the whole time, respectfully, for his niece.

The girl spoke up, a little louder now.

"We've all lost something. In this man's case, it's his daughter. He cannot remember her, at all.... though he knows he's forgetting something-!"

The girl winced and shook her head, grabbing her side in anxiety as her ribcage ached painfully.

"Don't kill him.... but if you want to know a weakness, it's his humanity. I was able to speak... here or there to him. As much as I could muster. Must you kill him, if that's not even him? He was taken over by those things.. they.. made him their king. He's a puppet is all.."

"And what are you suggesting we do? Destroy them and spare him?"

"Yes."

Cynder spoke the fact in a very stern and strong manner.
"Under the fearlings is a lonely General who's lost so much. And you want to kill an innocent because of what they've been forced in to...?"

Enzo: "I see no issue with this. Coerced or not, it was still by his hand that your plights occurred."

Topher: I look a bit conflicted. Not so much to avenge what happened to me, but for what happened to her.

But Cynder was a much wiser person than me.

The girl sternly stamped her foot on the ground, marching up to Enzo and looking up at him with determined eyes.
Frail and battered, she still was a fighting soldier. A strong woman with mercy as her sword.

"My plight is nothing too much. I hardly care any more. It'll heal. The bruises and bites will scar and go away. The memories will fade, to an extent. It's not because of him. It's because of the fearlings. You think he's just a lustful power-hungry man...?"

She snorted, wrinkling her nose.
"If there's one thing I learned about him through what happened to me, it's that he is extremely sorrowful and lonely. He doesn't just leave you be when he's done. He clings. Like a child....! You think that I care... about what happened to me? Because at first, though I did, I don't. Not any more. I've learned... to pity and forgive even further. I understand someone better... and you're sitting here like a coward wanting to attack in the name of vengeance instead of perhaps saving a life from the same fate of Top and others...?"

Enzo: "How dare you... accuse me of cowardice! The true cowards are those who will not fight."

"Christopher, come along, I'll begin your instruction now."

Topher: Somehow I know I'm going to regret this... well, maybe not but still... "No."

Enzo: "Did you hear me, grandson? I told you to follow me. You want to avenge your friend as much as I do."

Topher: "Yeah I do, you got that much right. But our fights with the fearlings."

(( -casually steals hobbit line- ))

Warm brown eyes were turned thankfully toward Topher.
He was a good friend. And she was glad that he probably understood her side.

Ged smirked to himself, proud of his Niece's mind.


The girl herself again turned to look at Enzo. She wouldn't be surprised if he thought Pitch had really done something to screw with her head.


"Bravery isn't knowing when to take a life... but when to spare one."

Enzo: "Have you all lost your sanity to him? He needs to be destroyed! Sparing an enemy doesn't save a comrade. That's the thoughts of a child!"

Agatha: "How would you know, father? You never knew how to raise none!"

Ged couldn't help but give a throaty chuckle, at the retort from his friend's daughter.
Cynder remained straight-faced and stern.

"No, you're wrong. Debt of a life is the thing most cherished in many hearts. Very few would dare break that. I do not see Pitch as one of those few."

Enzo: "But I do. If I have the chance to eliminate him, I'm taking it."

'Then maybe it's you who's the monster. I can't believe you'd hurt someone further, as to ignore their own mental pain... their own suffering... and then kill them, all because of vengeance?"
Cynder shook her head, the pawprint on her chest giving off a soft gleam.

"... no... if you're going to try to do it, leave my name out of it. Don't do it for me... I don't want that."

Topher: "C'mon Cyn... we should probably get going to figure out how..."

Enzo: "If he didn't want my wrath, he shouldn't have become my enemy."

"And Christopher, you know you're not strong enough to take him on. You need my guidance and you know it."

Cynder snapped at Enzo, face flushing in frustration.

"Leave Topher alone, do you hear? No one needs your guidance if it's going to be showing people how to kill someone who can be saved. And if what I heard from Pitch was true, than it's your fault he even did all of this!"

She wrinkled her nose, shaking her head and turning to Topher.
"We should go. I'm sick of this crackpot old man."

I look toward Enzo but turn my back to him, heading toward the door.

"I'll figure it out, I always do..."

With that I walk out and Agatha leaves furiously as well.

Topher: "you know, mum never talked about grandpa before... I get it now."

Ged did not move, watching his niece with a sense of pride and pity, at the same time.

Cynder followed Topher's lead, turning toward the door and walking stiffly next to him, wincing as she walked; she was more sore than she thought.

"I can see why. I hate to be so stern, but.... but I know there's gotta be a better way. Thank you for siding with me, Toph..

Topher: "I ain't gonna lie with you, this one wasn't an easy choice. You're like one of my best friends and everything so wanting to save that guy... it's not easy."

Agatha: I move myself to the adjacent room, and just sit down on a bed and let some tears run down my face. I truly had no father. And I couldn't protect my son. What good was I as a parent?
