She continued backing away, tripping on one of the steps, ~~sending her arms flailing into the air and her body tumbling down the staircase. Her neck connected with the bottom rung, snapping it cleanly in half.~~

'I can't do this..' she mumbled again, shaking her head. 'I won't choose.' I can't. It has to be neither..

you guys have no idea how tempted i was to keep the bit i crossed out unstricken.

'I.. I'm so confused. I don't understand myself. I need to run, if i can get away...' she was reverting to her old habits, avoiding problems had always worked out for her before. Ace was even peering around, looking for the best exit.

'I'M INSANE!' she practically screeched at him, at both of them. 'What's to understand about that!?' there was a frenzied look in her eyes again.

Eagle leaps to his feet, tugging Query back. "Don't stop her. If she wants to go, let her. Let Ace confront this how she wants. We can nudge her in the right direction, but we can't force her."

His gaze softens when he looks at Ace. "That was meant for you, too. These are your demons to face, but we'll be here for you."

'I need you, i need you both, but i also need to escape..' tears slipped from her grey eyes, and she quickly wrapped her arms around Eagle, before moving to Query.

'I'm sorry, I'll fix this.' With that she pulled back, sadness in her gaze once more as she descended the stairs.

I'll fix everything, i have no choice.

He turns on Query, glaring. "What you must understand about Ace, is that you cannot - I repeat, cannot - push her into anything, especially if she is distressed. If you wish for her to have a chance at becoming sane again, you will allow her to do this at her own pace."

Furious and feeling more alone than in a long, long time, Eagle walks away from Query. As much as he'd love to throttle the man, he knows it's not the right choice.

As usual these days, the girl remained on her own, wondering when her family was going to be well enough to see her. Mer had visited Amaya enough times today, but she had heard nothing from Ace...

'Good.' For once, she didn't object to his protectivness. 'To be honest, i met this new guy today, almost as insane as Crouch, he tried to kill me when i simply said "hello".' It didn't scare her, but it was unnerving nethertheless.
