Also, I do so love the contrast between Death and Crouch. They really do go well together. If/when they team up they're infallible and it's awesome.

To me, Crouch is like the cannonball where's Death is the guy who aim's the cannon if that makes sense. One does the damage, the other plans it out.

Is Crest sane?

There is no clear definition of sanity, just like there is no clear definition of normal.

Sanity= A level of normal cognitive thinking.
Normal= A state of average, common factors

Problem: Not all humans are the same.
Ergo: Normal cannot exist
Ergo: Sanity cannot exist

And yet society still uses those words like they mean something

Well a while back all of society was 100% convinced that the earth was flat. So I don't give much credence to universal acceptance. 

Simply put, the majority isn't always right.

I love this quote. 

I do believe that people have elected bad people to have high power because they thought it was for the best. Same thing of actions as well. Most wars are started because a party thought it was of the best intentions.

Do you think that Raven could easily surpass Crouch if she chose to?

I believe she could, maybe not easily but I think it is very possible. She's very strong but has a far greater grasp on reality and not as prone to become overcome by irrationalities like Crouch is.

Is River sane? Is crouch really the 'insane' sibling?

I think that River loves a bit too unwisely. I mean I've more than made it clear that Crouch is NOT going to stop yet for some reason she keeps just seeing him as a lost soul. There's lost souls and then there's so-lost-they're-drawing-a-whole-new-damn-map. 

Crouch falls into the latter category.

I think yor right in one sense-
but the love riv feels i htink does make her partly not-sane because she has this complete drive to...i dont know...prove people have hearts?
I also think she has this complete fear of being alone and unloved tht she would literally do anything at all to  stop that happening.

i think they are both crazy in different ways, but both have come from their childhoods. Riv has the lasting fear of not being accepted so she tries to hard and will not stop, even when facing death (which is crazy, come on)
Crouch, i think, under all the 'killing' crazy, actually has the same small fear- which is why he needed Voldenmort, because he wanted to be loved, he needed it.

Well didn't they say that the dementor's kiss is a fate worse than death? I mean, it's ripping out a persons soul and leaving them mindless and rotting. Doesn't get much worse than that.

Define 'soul' though. I don't believe people have souls. I believe it's all in their mind. So losing ones 'soul' to me is not as bad as death. Dying is permanent, someone could always regain part of their consciousness.
