| For once, Axel found solace in being alone. It was funny, all his life he had been accustomed to escaping his mind, his thoughts and feelings, why? Because they weren't good thoughts. It was why he'd spent so long fighting them.
But why did he bother? Already, he'd been betrayed twice, almost tortured, confused... all because he had a conscience, one he listened to often.
Am I really here to get revenge on the Strayers? I must be, it's the only purpose i have these days...
Standing sharply, he shut his eyes and exhaled, a low growl curling from his lips as she slammed his palms together. A ripple shot from his hands, a small bolt of energy that parted the lake water jaggedly. Briefly, he thought of Moses, how he'd split an ocean, apparently.
In an instant, it settled back down in it's rightful place.
Still, he couldn't displace the conflict in his heart. What am I doing? | |
