Gringotts Wizarding Bank

A few of the goblins gasped as the polyjuice potion's effect completely diminished. She yanked out her wand, knives in the other hand, and hurled them in his direction. She aimed directly for his shoulder blades; the fleshy point where his neck met his spine. 

'You aren't leaving.' Her copies were stationed by the exits, raggedly determined in her mission. She decided to accompany the binding curse with her speech.

If the knife wasn't enough to take him down, the binding curse would surely do it. His legs and arms seized up, forcing him to fall to the ground.

This hardly seized the conman's struggles though, wriggling like a worm on a hook, "Look May! This goes a lot deeper than you know! Trust me on this!" He pleaded desperately. He'd saved one trump card  in case of a situation like this, one scapegoat that would hopefully be enough to save his neck.

'You didn't know enough to not take what's mine.' She had her wand still pointed at him, the enchanted knife snapping back to her fingers. She hadn't injured him, although she desperately wish she had. 

'Thieves get punished, especially ones who have taken as much as you have.'

"Wait May! Come on! It was Death okay?! It was all Death! It was his plan! I just went along with it!!" 

"He took down Chezzy, put me in charge so he could control things, alright?!" He confessed falsely. However years of conning and lying had given him a very convincing ability to fib without any physical signs. He stared her straight in the eyes, begging her with them as though she were an angel about to smite him.

ic Flinching, the girl tightened her grip around her knives and met his stare with an even gaze. The conflict was clear in her manner, knowing what her siblings would have done in the same situation.

This could've been you.


but... the point was that Joachim wasn't her; he'd still stolen from her, no matter who was pulling the strings. 

'no, it's not, because i don't like you.' Her tone was flat. 'I don't give a shit who it was, as long as i get it back.'  Amaya silently admitted that her mission had become more personal than just claiming a legacy. 

She stepped towards him, knives at the ready. 'I want the keys to my Dad's safe, Chezekov's.... everything.'

OOC Dammit! So close! >.< I was saving that line for weeks!

"Look, I only have one of them! I was promised for serving Death I'd have the keys to Chezzy's vault. And I do! I came here to collect, but I don't have a clue where your dad's vault even is!"

The string of lies continued to be weaved, as masterfully as a spider web. 

"You really think Death would let me have all the cards?"

ooc you underestimate the extent Amaya will hold grudges until she thinks she's had her justice... she ain't no Bryn or Meredia!

ic She crouched to his level, casting her gaze upon him like he was a maggot that she could crush. 'Then i'll be taking that, and if you really are as guiltless as you say, i'm sure you'll have no problem acquiring my father's vault key. They were meant to be together, the keys.' She explained briefly, searching his pocket for the incriminating article. 

'I'm the only one who knows where the vaults are. After all, i was the one they chose.'

"Then you'll have no problem showing us where it is!" Sawyer had finally caught up with them, pointing his wand at the back of Amaya's head. 

"Stand up nice and quiet okay?"

Joachim thanked god as he saw his most trusted ally backing him up. If he made it out of all this, he'd read the torah twice a day. "Sawyer, what would I do without you?" Joachim allowed a shaky smile to form on his face, the tension in his back daring to ease.

ic A thin smirk crossed her lips, turning her back on Joachim in an instant, ignoring the pressure which was now embedding itself into her forehead from Sawyer's wand. 'I can't tell you. Well, you can't torture or coerce it out of me anyway.'

She fell silent, triumph now lighting her features. Amaya was the only person who knew, and who had the ability to tell. As long as she had this card, they had a stalemate.

OOC What can I say? Joachim was having it too easy for a while, wanted to make him squirm a little

This stalemate was not lost on Joachim, "We have the key, but only you know where the lock is. Bit of a pickle..." He tapped his chin in thought, "You know... maybe there's a way where we both come out of this looking good..."

The smirk fell, contorting her features into ones of disdain. She stared at Sawyer, like Joachim wasn't even there. 'I'd rather die than give anything to you. If I can't have the inheritance, then neither can you.'

OOC Ha! Backfired!

"Well you know what?" Joachim got in close to her face, "I don't think this is about that inheritance. If you gave so much of a damn about it, you would've snagged it up the second Abonacci was out of the picture."

"No, I think this is personal."

She raised her hand to his face, intending for the blow to cleanly mark his features. 'Because you, the dumbass lackey, know anything about my father or Chezekov. But you don't, because you're a liar.'

Rolling her shoulders in a shrug, she addressed both of them. 'I couldn't claim it until Chezekov was dead. And like I've said before, I want to string your intestines into a necklace. So what if this is personal?'

"If it is personal, I'd just like to know what the deal is."

 Sawyer didn't dare lower his wand, knowing from Joachim's stories just how dangerous Amaya could be.

"You're doing all this just to screw me over when things are finally good again. And don't give me that inheritance bullshit. I could've stolen a cookie from your cookie jar and you'd be after me like this!" 

"So fess up..."

She rolled her eyes at him. 'Stop playing the victim card, Mr 'Oh pity me because i've done nothing wrong my entire life'. It's sickening, and you're less pitiable than the shit on my shoe.' 

'Of course i'd be after you, because whether you did it on purpose or not, you still took something from me. You can't expect to wander scot free, unless you really are that braindead.'

"You walk on shit much?" He teased her as Sawyer started to fidget a little bit.

"We done talkin' yet?" He inquired, not masking his impatience at all, "Let's just get her to tell us where the lock is!"

'No, but i'll walk on you, you idiot.' She went to push him over, knives ready at her fingertips. If he wasn't smart enough to understand the fidelius charm, then he didn't deserve to ever know the whereabouts of the safe. She was certain they could never pry the information from her.

Footsteps echoed as her two clones marked their presence, wielding the enchanted knives just as she did. She silently thanked Artisan for all his help, and the ability to bind her knives to both her clones and herself.

The threat however didn't disturb Joachim's right hand man. If anything it excited him. The traditional duelist he was used to besting were just too predictable and dull. "I heard you were good. Wonder if you can back up Joachim's stories about you..." He took out his wand, which appeared more like a small branch from it's circumference. With wood of white oak and a handle that a keen observer could see had sizable indents where this beast of a young man had his fingers wrapped around it. 

"When I win, you tell us where it is..."

It's a shame that Amaya sees Sawyer as an intruder in her grudge against Joachim, otherwise i think she'd react very differently.

"You think i'm going to fight a dog to kill the rat?" The footsteps rang louder in her ears, an eerily calmness settling on her features as she dug her heels into the floor. She now faced Sawyer, meeting his gaze like she would a colleague, and not someone who was physically larger and therefore stronger than her. 

"This ain't between you, and I ain't taking casualties." In the back of her mind, she knew she would regret these words, trying her best to at least mildly stick to Bryn's principles. There were no winners in conflict, only the person who got the least hurt, after all. 

The knives were still curled around her fingers, familiar to her as a poet with a quill. "I will leave, knowing i don't get the fight I want, and that bastard won't ever get what he wants. No goblin can tell him where that vault is."

"Well I'll be ready for you next time then..." Sawyer saw this as an event to be celebrated, like Thanksgiving. It would be a day to fill his hunger for a fight he deserved, one that might leave him satisfied for all his life.

Joachim could feel himself relax. Sawyer had singlehandedly saved him for a fight he knew he didn't have an iota of a chance of winning. But this only meant a brief respite. He had to regroup. Just running away and vanishing was no longer an option. She could find him anywhere. What he needed was allies. 

He knew most of Chezhekov's men wouldn't care much for his plight, feeling cheated that he was given all of their late bosses holdings. He needed someone he trusted, someone who's word was their bond. And more importantly someone who could influence Amaya. Only two people came to mind...

Joachim is gonna have to pick very carefully and out of his comfort zone!


ic "There won't be a next time, not between me and you anyway." She shoved her knives back in their holders, a gesture more familiar to her than a handshake. "I don't pick fights for nothing."

She turned on her heels to face Joachim again, planting her hands firmly on his chest and attempting to knock him to the floor. "You. You need to know I ain't gonna stop 'til you stop cowering behind your little boyfriends and girlfriends. There could be the Great Wall of China separating us, but i'll still tear you down."

Her clones arrived to escort her, as she began to take her leave.

Just as briskly as they arrived, Joachim and Sawyer were turning tail to regroup. 

"You're really ass deep in trouble there Chimmy..." Sawyer cautioned him. "We'll need to really play it smart next time."

"Next time?!" Joachim gave a mirthless laugh. "Sawyer, we're LUCKY there's a next time!" He expressed adamantly. "The only thing that stood between me and a body bag was you. She had me completely dead to rights!" Witlessly frightened by this close encounter, his fight or flight instincts suppressed any thoughts deemed unnecessary like a mental filtration system. Krystal could've walked right up to him in a bikini and he wouldn't have even batted an eye in her direction, such was the depth of his worry. 

"Chill out will you, drama queen?" Sawyer grunted roughly. "You're alive right? So long as you are, we got a shot at this. You gotta have some idea how to play this. What about your ole pal Top?"

Joachim shook his head, "Nah. Amaya and him have history. That's too complicated a card with a lot of room to backfire. I trust him and all, but not for this. For this I need someone close to her, someone who can influence her, to back me. And I know exactly who..." His filtration mentality relaxed its restrictions, and oxygen filled his lungs once more.Anything could be accomplished with a good con and he knew who to play, and HOW to play them..
