Cynder frowned slightly and closed her eyes quietly.

"... I heard it as if it were a dream. Like when you're partly asleep and partly awake, and only hear a mutter of a voice..."

A pause, she looked right at Matthew, a sorrowful look in her eyes.

".... he loves Clare more then anything. And yet she knows him for what he really is... and it hurts her...-
Matthew, I'm sorry for not telling you what I was going to do. I knew it meant I might loose my personality to allow Clare to stay for Descole. I didn't know if I would make it out okay, and... I didn't want to hurt you that way. I'm sorry..."

-I hold her close to me.- "Not to worry angel, I had complete faith that you knew what you were doing. I trust you."

"I would like a little more heads up in the future, but it's fine. I understand why you did it."

"But I'm just happy Artisan and I got to you when we did."

Cynder gave a soft nod to Matthew.
Yes. Yes, she would let him know in the future- after all, this wasn't the end of any troubles.

"There was no telling what he was going to. The Strayers lost faith in Descole a long time ago so they were monitoring things, and apparently an auror named Cayden didn't trust him either. She gave orders to the Strayers to bring you into their custody and they allowed me to come."

Cynder scowled again and sighed quietly.

"He holds Cayden in high respect- looks up to her. I wonder how he's doing, knowing she doesn't trust him."

A scowl, she shook her head again and put a small smile on her face.

"Well, thank you. I can't say I like being his little lab rat."

"You'll never have to be again if Crest goes through with what he is planning..."

Cynder looked right at Matthew with wide eyes.
What he was planning..?

Worry crossed her face.

"What's.... what's Crest planning?"

"Do you remember his cavern where he had all that evidence against Descole?"

The girl blinked and scowled for a moment before nodding firmly.

"Yes, I believe so."

"Well, if Descole does anything at the trial to try and swing things against you for whatever reason, he's going to bring forth the evidence against him."

Cynder blinked in shock.

"Really!? Crest would do that!? He'd get Descole fired, or even thrown in jail because.. because of my trial?"

"Secretly, I think he would've done it eventually, it's just now he ha a perfect opportunity."

"It really is sad, when someone loses someone and they have to see the person who did it. I truly feel sorry for Crest." -I say piteously.-

Cynder frowned and nodded slightly.

"I feel terrible for him too... but Descole.. that's about all he has any more. It wouldn't be right for either of them."

-I smile at her, admiringly.- "You have a very good heart Cynder. Seeking benevolence to even those who would wrong you..."

Cynder frowned and shook her head.

"No, Matthew. My heart's far from good. And anyway, there is no life if unblinded love doesn't exist."

"I beg to differ. Your heart is just like any other human heart. Filled with both angels and demons. You just don't let the demons take over." -I smile at her reassuring.-

A pause, the girl looked up softly to Matthew and allowed a smile to cross her lips.

"I'm glad you think so, Matt. And you don't give yourself enough credit, either. You're the kindest man I could have ever known."

-I smile at her.- "I'm glad you think so..."

"How could I not...?"

Cynder kissed Matthew softly before pulling away and giving a groan of pain, pressing a hand to her neck.

"... Aug... it feels like the needle is still in my neck.."

-I kiss her back and then grimace at her in pain.- "Here... maybe this can help.."

-I take out a small vial that contained Holy Water. I pour some on her wound.-

At the cold water, the wound seemed to immediately start to numb, as if the pain was ebbing away.

She blinked in shock.

"W-wow, thank you, Matthew! I.. I feel... quite a bit better..!"

A chuckle, she looked again at Matthew and straightened slightly.
"So, what do you think my chances are at that trail?"

"Well I was talking with Artisan before we went out to you, seems the Strayers will all be defending you and testifying on your behalf. As well... the fair auror Cayden will be judging."

"I would think high."
