Outside of Hogsmeade

(( lagging to all high heavens, plus skyping grandma because her and mother's birthday. :I ))

A lurch of fear, sweet to the lips, overcame Pitch's senses.

It blurred his vision and he swallowed as the heady rush overwhelmed him. Instantly, he locked his eyes on the individual.

And he stalked forward, his expression hungry.

"Who's there?!"

Still no signs of Pitch or my grandson in weeks... I was losing time. I had to exterminate him fast.

Cynder found herself quite busy these days. Though the half-moon bite marks and clawing scratches over her neck and shoulders and collar bone had healed, the light scars still showed quote visibly on her pale skin.

Currently, though, she held an ice cream in her fingers and ate quietly, looking to the warm sun in peace. She hadn't felt more relaxed in ages. And even though they were not making much progress with Pitch, it didn't matter for now. She figured that he needed time.

I don't know what enticed me to go to Hogsmeade, probably the vast population would give him lots of opportunity to eat.

"You..." I can't believe I've met up with my best friend's grand daughter again.

The voice caused Cynder to turn around mid-bite of her ice cream. And at seeing such a sickeningly familiar face, she jumped, stumbling back a few steps and eyes growing wide in both slight anxiety and fear, and slight surprise.

He was-...!?


"Enzo-..!?"

"Yes, I'm as surprised as you are for this most fortuitous encounter."

Another step back, Cynder's eyes had locked in their widened state.

"-Yeah, me too.... what are you-..."
She wanted nothing to do with this man.....

"Doing here?" I finish for her as though in a rush, "The same objective applies. Avenge my fallen student and return grace to the Enzo name, by killing that demon..."

(( Eff gotta run. Mum's bugging the shit out of me to clean stuff and. guh. Do not want. I'll be on tonight, later. Ttys. ))

"The demon-?"
Cynder paused, blinking in concern before growing ridgid. Her eyes flashed dangerously as she now stepped toward Enzo.

"You will do nothing to harm Pitch Black. I've already got it under control;... or, I'm working on it."

"Working on it? By showing him mercy and compassion?" I scoff at the notion, "Indeed."

"Yes."

Cynder stepped closer, again. This time, the pawprint on her chest glowed threateningly.
"He's just a scared animal, Enzo! What use is putting down a scared animal when you know they were once such a good pet!"

"Because they aren't anymore."

"He's just a useless existence that causes misery. I'd be doing life a service with his extermination."

The girl broke.

Cynder's eyes glowed harshly, now, and she marched right up to the man, looking up at him.

She traced the scars on her neck and collar bone.
"You see this, Enzo? All these bite and claw marks? He did this to me. But do I want to kill him? No. I don't. Fear is necessary, Enzo. And he once protected the world from it. He was noble! He was kind!"

"WAS. Past tense." I answer simply, never a man to budge my beliefs on the words of others.

"Was, only because of the fearlings, Enzo."

Her lips curled in a snarl, past all point of tolerance and kindness.
"He was a hero, Enzo. Much better than you. And I've seen that man. He's still there."

"And the man over him... took my most cherished disciple." I growl at her and grab her arm roughly.

Cynder winced visibly, pulling away at Enzo's grasp, looking suddenly pitiful, vulnerable.

"And he took my innocence, my pride... these scars are a constant reminder of that."

She again traced the scars and looked over to Enzo.
"But I saw what I did, and that good man is still there. I refuse to be anything like a cruel person as to shun him like others. Forgiveness and kindness will heal him."

"Stupid child."

I let go of her and walk a small distance from her. "You still believe in those fairytale niceties that don't produce practical results."

"S-stupid?"


A pause, Cynder felt immense rage boil within her. But she kept it calm, and glowered hatefully toward Enzo.

"Believe what you must. But I'm on Pitch's side. At least he's a better man than you."

Hmmmmm.... dark or light?

"Top!" Cynder turned and looked to Topher, relief spreading over her face.
