'Mercy would just make him hate you more.'

""He already hates us." Crest told her, "Any more is just more of the same."

'What would your mercy mean if he ended up killing someone you loved?'

"Would you rather him be dead or imprisoned?" Artemis knew more than one auror would keep his head as a trophy after all his atrocities.

'No. of course not.'

"His path is already set on one of those courses. So with us he gets locked up for a very long time, with them he's a dead man."

'i dont want this.' I whisper, looking way from them both. 'I want too go back to a time where Barty was my brother. Where you were the best friend who i could rely on. a time I didnt have to feel like I was betray my heart by thinking about doing anything.'

"River, reality is what it is. The past you had is done. Your brother is not going to go back to the way he was."

'I can still hope, Artemis.' I sigh, closing my eyes, not even believng i was about to help them. 'If your going to stop him- if the war happens- you have to overwhealm him. You will all have to group up together and do something he would not expect. Completely suprise him.'

"What would you recommend?"

'I dont know. the only thing i can think of is something I refuse to do.'

"Kill him..." Crest finished.

'No.' I snap. 'Do you have no compassion? This is my brother, Crest. You may not like him, but i love him and he is my only family I have. The day my brother dies...that is the day you and your side will truely lose me.'

"I thought that was what you were implying." Crest clarified. "I thought you meant the only way to stop him was to kill him." Crest knew killing was not something he'd allow himself to do.

'No. I mean. trapping him...me trapping him not you. But i couldnt do it.'

"You know Crouchie is going to be Voldy's juggernaut here, lord knows how many will croak before he goes down if we take him in a straight scrap!" Artisan pointed out.

'Is that meant to make me want to do this more or less, artemis?'

"Umm.. I'm Artisan..."
