The Black Lake

He shook his head. "I don't see how that's fun."

'Then congratulations, you wouldn't fit in with the Death Eaters.' she was being half sarcastic.

He shrugged. "I might. You never know."

'Well you just admitted to not understanding their sadism, so i'm hedging my bets against you getting a creepy ass snake on your arm.'

He laughed. "Yeah, tattoos aren't my thing. I think they'd hurt too much."

'Plus it would move, wouldn't it freak you out a bit?'

"Yeah, that would bother me to no end."

'Heh, me too. My body wouldn't feel like my own anymore..' she shifted her cap, blonde tufts becoming even more askew.

He leaned back on his hands and stared out at the black water. "So Ace, what house are you in?"

'Hufflepuff.' She worked to keep the contempt out of her tone. 'Yourself?'

"Slytherin," he answered simply.

Ace: gee why is EVERYONE in Slytherin?

ic 'Ah..another snake.' she spoke with no weight in her voice now. 'You're not secretly evil, right?'

"Uh, not that I know of."

'Then i believe we'll get on perfectly well.' she concluded with a friendly smile.

"Yeah." He stood. "I'm gonna go find Dumbledore and see what we can do about a boat."

'Tell me how it goes.' she rose to her feet, dusting herself even though her baggy clothes looked scruffy anyway.

I'm sitting under a tree by the lake, drawing my heart and soul out into my sketchbook, lost in my little artist world that I travel to frequently.

"Well, well, well..."

Pitch eyed the girl, sitting below the tree, drawing.

It was a warm sort of evening, dark enough for the fearling king to blend in exceptionally with the shadows.

He stood just nearby, peeking over her shoulder at the sketchpad, leaning from out of the way of the tree.

"What is that..?"

My eyes widen and I turn around, the sight of Pitch startling me. "Just drawings..." I hug my sketchbook to myself, "Who are you?"

The tall, shadowy man raised a brow, golden eyes gleaming like stars. Ominous, deadly stars.

His smile was suave and careless, smug and dark.
"I am someone you have known for a very long time, though this form is not one you may recollect. What were you drawing?"

"The lake..." This man is really creeping me out. I can feel chills going down my spine and spreading throughout the rest of my body.

"The lake...?"

Pitch glanced upwards, to the icy water that so reflected the glittering sky.

His eyes flashed in remembrance and amusement.
"Ah, yes. Lakes are a nice place to be, especially in the winter. Especially when the ice is extra thin..."

I just look at him warily, not knowing what to say or do. "Yeah... I guess..."

Pitch's smirk fell, and his eyes locked unnervingly on Sam.

"So you do not recall who I am, Samantha? Even though you have known me all your life?"

The way he tenses makes me even more uncomfortable and I back up, "What are you talking about? I... I've never seen you before..."
