Early Years

"But I will tell you what. One day, I'll walk around it with you. BUT only for a few minutes and only the first ward."

She beams happily, then turns serious for a moment, "How's Mommy?"

He never liked to discuss this with her, he grimaced a little and put his hand on her shoulders, "Some cases go better than others Heather... just remember that."

"Okay, Daddy." She hugs him lovingly.

He hugged her back, stroking her hair, "It'll be alright, I swear I'll try to cure her."

Harvey walks into the room, rubbing one of his eyes, "Daddy, I had a bad dream..."

"Harvey..." He looked over at his son and patted his lap, "Tell me all about it..."

"I had a dream that a bad accident happened, and I flipped a coin that meant death for most people... I was crazy!" He sniffles a little, Heather taking great interest in her brother's nightmare.

"It's okay son... but I think that we should limit your time reading those comic books."

He nods, hugging his dad tightly for comfort.

"it'll be okay..." He pats his sons head while hugging him, "Here, why don't we go have some milk and cookie?"

He brightens up immediately, "Yeah!"

I stand up and walk us into the kitchen, leaving my research on my desk to comfort him.

Harvey follows his dad excitedly, while Heather slowly walks there, thinking.

"Would you like some Heather?"

"Oh, um... Yeah!"

"You look rather lost in thought there..."

"Oh, it's nothing..." She smiles, taking a cookie.

"Well if you're sure..." He pours three glasses of milk for them all.

The body had been honorable laid to rest.
Committed to the grounds of his ancestors.
Occupying the same dirt of those he respected.

And not a fiber in Crest's body didn't wish to join his cousin and brother in blood and arm.

After the funeral, Crest purposefully passed Helm's former residence. He looked at it like a temple for a jester god that now had been plundered and ravaged. It had been his sanctuary as well as his friends home.

There he could escape the grueling and inhumanity of Progenitor. There, he felt like he had a soul, a state of existing beyond his duties. 

One where he was a person, not a means to an end.

Now, he couldn't conjure his humanity if he tried. What did he have to look forward to the next few years? Or until he too was laid to rest? More training, more repression, more soul crushing?

...

The simple answer was yes.

He was sure he'd find no way to laugh again. His master, Progenitor, would crush his emotions into an unrecognizable powder... and he hated his master for the crimes he would soon commit on his spirt.

With this hate came fear too. It was inescapable. This was his life. His duty.  

He was made to suffer what everyone else couldn't. Suffer through it all with a brave face, never letting a soul in on his misery.

He closed his trembling lip, closed his eyes, and closed his heart...

His great grandfather wanted a glutton for punishment? He would be so. 

To never be happy, but to do what had to be done?

What is one person's happiness weighed against the grand scheme of things anyway?

Inside an airport two people entered. One of them was a man with brown permed hair that would become gray one day as well as a goatee. He was of strong physical build and looked to be in his 50's and behind him was a woman. She was a lovely young woman with the same face shape as her father, shyly looking at the ground in fear of her father but obligated to serve him.

"Where is the one?" Enzo asked to himself as he looked around for one of his 'eye-line' as he called it.

Sitting by a gate with her single father was a small girl, 10 in age with light short brown hair that sat in shoppy layers about her head. She hugged close to her dad as if everyone around her was a scare at a haunter house. He patter her head a few times.
"Relax Kara, it's okay no ones looking at you."
But Kara knew otherwise, someone was, and her skin crawled because of it.

"Agatha, there art the one we seek..." The man pointed to the young girl, with a greedy glint in his eye. Another one to his cause was all he saw her as.

Agatha looked saddened by being forced to obey but she followed her father, hoping to be able to sneak away to Mael again.

Kara's dad got up from his seat, telling Kara he'd be back from the restroom and that she should stay right where she was. But the moment he vanished into the men's room, she moved away, dragging her neko doll with her as she passed more and more airplane gates.

OOC Wow, I bet he let's his kids go to Micheal Jackson's house in a candy van with a stranger too! XD

Enzo and Agatha mad their approach on the girl, "Excuse me, can I see your eyes?" Enzo knelt down to look at her while Agatha looked away reluctant to even be there.
