The Owlery

I look to his hand, and the wand clutched there, frowning. I get mine out, look at it, then throw it across the room. 'Do what ever, Death. i wont raise my wand against you. i cant.'

He watched her wand fly across the room. He looked back at her. She had no way of defending herself now, an easy target. He raised his wand. His hand was steady, no trembling or anything.

Death, you know you can't fight an unarmed woman. It's against your standards. he though to himself.

He dropped his wand. He couldn't do it. He was weak. He clenched his jaw and fought to keep a steady expression.

I dont even look at him as i speak, knowing i wouldnt be able to cope. 'You hate me now, dont you?'

"Why?" he croaked, trying to hold back his emotions. "Just tell me why."

He had never had to fight to control himself. He hadn't felt like this before, heartbroken. He refused to show it. Any of it. Emotion and pain was a sign of weakness, his father had raised him that way. To serve the Dark Lord and to be a Death Eater meant that you had to be devoid of any emotion besides rage and blood lust.

'Because crouch has gone to far. i have to stop him. dont you see, Death?'

"But to arrest all the DE and not just Crouch? Myself included? Have you really grown that heartless?" He shook his head. "You're not the River I once loved. You've changed into something else."

I flinch at his words- they truely hurt me.
'I have to do something.'

He sighed. "Alright, what is it?"

I shake my head and stand up, walking over to him. I put my hands on his arm and look up at him. I kiss him lighly, then take a stap away.
'Im going to stop crouch. and you cant stop me. If you have to fight me, because of what you are, just do it afterwards. You are the one person i cannot raise my wand on, just please, let me deal with crouch first.'

"What are you going to do River?" he asked again.

i shake my head, and go to pick up my wand, putting it in my pocket. my face goes blank. 'im going to fight my brother. thats all that matters.'

He took a step towards her and kissed her softly. "Be careful. We both know how Crouch can be when he's confronted."

'I know.' I look up at him and smile sadly. 'I am sorry, death. and know that what ever happens, i do love you.'

"As do I." He hugged her quickly. "Don't let me hold you up any longer."

I walk out, getting my wand out my pocket as i go. I dont look back.

He bent down and picked up his wand, watching her retreat.

What happened to you Riv?

He read the letter carefully. A slow smile forming on his face. He disapparated immediately to the location stated.

I was staring out the window in the owlery, frowning slightly.

-An owl flies in and drops off a huge amount of fliers that scatter all over the place.-

I smile softly. 'Silly owl.' I say queitly, picking them all up off the floor.

-The flier is made of parchment, with very bright red coloring splattered all over it. In the center is a kind looking man, doning a Gryffindor robe proudly displaying a sort of beverage which he drinks and it makes him all the happier.-

NEW DRINK AT HOGSHEAD!!!

WILL PUT FIREWHISKEY OUT OF BUSINESS!!

CHEERFUL NIGHT!!

TELL YOUR FRIENDS ALL ABOUT IT!!

AND MAY ALL YOUR NIGHTS BE HAPPY!!!

I roll my eyes, looking at it, and put it on the table

"Hey! Whats up?"

-I ask as I walk up-

'Nothing. i was up here thinking....an owl dropped all these.' I gesture to the table.
