The Cemetery

Tomas was stood by amaya, looking sadly around the cemetery, when Krystal walked up behind him and took his other hand, her eyes already bright with tears. She leant her head on her brothers shoulder.

He walked into the cemetery wearing a black suit, he hadn't dressed up at all for this. This was a time to mourn, not to look pretty.

He stood there silently, staring at the hole in the ground that Bryn would be placed in. This whole thing was surreal to him. He couldn't believe that he was actually here, this this was actually happening. He felt like he was watching from a distance.

survival. that was her first instinct in life. to survive, to keep the people she loved alive.
But Bryn had always challanged her on that- he had accepted his fate, and wasnt scared. But she was scared for him. And he had taught her something she didnt want to accept. surviving isnt living. She had to live, had to take risk, even if it meant dying in the end.
Bryn, the boy they were about to bury, her brother had done that...and it was the one thing she didnt want to accept. that he was the one that was dead. Small tears dripped down her face, but she made no attempt to wipe the away.

The sound of footsteps drawing near alerted them all to the coming coffins. Usually, someone from the family would've been carrying the coffins, but none of the Desouza sisters had been deemed fit enough to haul one over their shoulders. They trooped in silently, solemnly.

Meredia felt tears brimming in her eyelids, moving around to latch onto Krystal's other hand. Her turn to speak would be soon.

At the sight of the coffins approaching Teddy lost it. Tears streamed down his face as he tried to keep it together.

Every memory of Bryn came flodding back, playing over in his head. From the very first time they met, to their amazing relationship together, to every fight, every make up. All of that was flickering through his mind, like a movie.

He covered his mouth to keep from whimpering.

She looked up at teddy, stepping back from Tomas and Mer, putting their hands together and she went and stood by Teddy, getting out a small handkechief and giving it to him

"Thanks," he mumbled. He silently wiped the tears from his cheeks.

He spoke up next, "Bryn was the best boyfriend anyone could ever ask for. He was way better than I deserved. Not only was he an amazing boyfriend but he was an amazing man.

He was so brave and he fought for what belonged to him. He... He was just amazing.

Sydnay, even though I didn't know her all too well, I applaud her sacrifice. She probably had more guts than anyone I've ever known."

'Bryn was brave. he accepted what was happening, what he had to do. He may have left, gone....but he hanst. not really. nor has sydnay.' Krystal took a deep breathe, shuddering. 'because they are still here with us. In each one of their family, everoye who cared for them, we hold them in our hearts. So they may be dead, but they are still here.'

Teddy watched everyone give their final words. He had stopped crying, but was now standing there like stone.

The girl went to speak, but then she simply burst into tears, knees giving way and palms covering her face.

'I loved you.. i loved you both so much..' she was being undignified, but she couldn't care, entangled in sorrow once more. Ace was too shrouded by delusion to help, and Amaya was physically paralyzed.

The Desouza family had all been crippled by the battle, by war. It had literally ripped their family apart by the seams.

The youngest head Strayer approached the newly buried, donning his black funeral attire. It was similar to his battle garb but was made of a finer material and of course wore the night instead of the clouds as it's color.

"Bryn, Sydnay, you two were the greatest people I knew. There was so much I wish I could say but I shall simply say this."

"Bryn, you were such an inspiring figure in my life. I once told you you would be a terrible Strayer. I was wrong. You were a family man, a good, honest, and noble man. You taught me so much. You taught me about how you don't have to handle everything alone and justice doesn't always have to come from a law book. You were a prime example of human decency and I'm honored to call you a friend."

"Sydnay, even when we first met, among all the darkness you tried to hide in I saw that glimmer of light in you. I wanted to make it a flame burning bright. I could only provide the kindling, but you brought the spark. You ignited your inner light and I'm proud of you. I'm proud to call you my friend as well."

"Rest in peace my friends."

I bite my lip, looking uncertain. "Bryn... a lot of the time, I saw you as an older brother. You were one of the kindest people I knew, and I always felt that I could turn to you when I needed someone to talk to. You understood and... you were a pleasure to be around. You were an amazing friend."

I pause, hesitating. "Sydnay, I'm sorry we never became friends. It's my fault. I was reluctant to forgive you for something you had no control over, and I'm sorry. I realise now how stubborn and stupid I was. I only wish I could have apologised to you in person."

Fighting back tears, I bow my head and return to my seat.

I sigh, leaning on my walking stick and tapping it with my nails as I think.

"I don't remember either of you much; Nix hung around with you both more than I did. But, Bryn, you were an awesome guy, not gonna lie. And Syd... we're pretty alike, in some ways. I guess if we'd spoken to each other more, we'd have been close. Who knows? Rest in peace, guys."

'Gee, you guys are being so depressive, Bryn would hate everyone moping..' Amaya mumbled, scanning the crowd with weary eyes. Meredia wasn't sure she agreed with what her sister said, so remained quiet.

Perceval Abonnaci, or rather Eugene, was the next to step up.

"While it's highly improbable that you'll hear me, but in case you do, here it goes."

"Bryn, you made me feel like family even though you only found out I was recently. Thank you for this, I only wish I knew you longer."

"Sydnay, I'm going to be honest here, at the beginning I hated you, so entirely that I had dreams about strangling you."

"But really I was just blind to who you were. When I saw you had goodness in you you became one of my best friends. I'm really disappointed we couldn't have known each other better."

"I wish you both the peace and happiness you have brought us all."

OOC Topher is next, hell be a little more uplifting

"Sydnay, I always believed in you. Always. You Desouzas have always been family to me, and since I didn't have one of my own, I accepted you without question. You made things... more entertaining, I suppose."

Eagle pauses, clearly struggling with himself here. "Brynmor... you were my first real friend. You cannot be replaced. You were the first person to offer your hand in friendship to me, an outsider. I won't ever forgot you, my friend."
